(Tampa) Baywatch – Pre-Season

I know this recap is late in coming but when you have a full time job and kids , you do what you can when you can .

The Tampa Bay Lightning lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins Monday by a score of three to two . Oddly enough , all of the scoring was done in the first period .

Our ex-Dallas Stars Jussi Jokinen started the scoring off with a one-timer on a pass from Evengy Artyukhin from behind the net . Jokinen finished the game with =/- ranking of +1 . He logged over eighteen minutes of ice time . He had three shots on goal , went ten for twenty in the faceoff circle and also earned the third star of the game .

Mike Smith did not suit up for the game . Instead , Riku Helenius and Olaf Kolzig suited up Kolzig played the entire game much like Ramo did the last game . Apparently Helenius was only there for moral support just like Smitty was last game .

Number one draft pick Steven Stamkos is making a very good impression on both fans and coaches . Barry Melrose said of him . ”  He is an impressive kid . “* I hope for Stamkos’ sake that he still has that big of a fan club as the season stretches on .

Still no word on Jeff Halpern . If you hear something about him that I do not , please be so kind as to inform me . I would greatly appreciate it .

P.S.: I absolutely love running the spell check when I write . I goes nuts on more than half of the players’ names . I laugh every time I run it .
