(Tampa) Bay Watch

 Episode Twenty

The Tampa Bay Lightning was defeated by the Atlanta Thrashers in their final game of the season by  a score of four to one .
Mike Smith faced tweny-three shots and allowed three goals . The third goal of the four was an empty net goal and the fourth goal was scored in the game’s final seconds after Smitty had returned to the crease . It probably would have been better for him if he had just stayed on the bench .
Jeff Halpern had over twenty-three minutes of ice time and five shots on goal . He had two take-aways and went ten for twenty-three in the faceoff circle .
Jussi Jokinen had almost fourteen minutes of ice time and two shots on goal . He went four for nine in the faceoff circle .

It is really sad that this was the last game of their season . I miss our guys . I hated for them to be traded away to a team with no chance on Earth to get into the playoffs . I hope that next year will be better for our ex-players .
This maybe the final installment of (Tampa) Bay Watch . Leave me a comment and let me know if you would like to see this series continue next season .
My bitterness over the trade that got our players moved to Tampa may have lessened if Our Dallas Stars go deep into the playoffs . If it does not , then you will definately hear from me on the subject when Our Stars’ playoff run has ended . So long Tampa . We will hear from you next season .

  1. I know I am something of a Pollyanna but I really think next year will be much better for Tampa Bay and our guys. They seem to have fit in well for such a short time and along with that new little d-man Picard seem to have given some spark to the team already. I for one will be keeping an eye on them. Maybe my team to follow in the Eastern Conference.

  2. yes, yes. please continue (Tampa) Bay Watch next season. i find it much better reading from you than reading on nhl.com or the tampa website. and i like the column’s name…
