(Tampa) Baywatch

Last night (the 13th of March) , the Tampa Bay Lightning won their second game in a row by a score of three to one .

Jeff Halpern started the scoring with the game’s first goal . He shockingly had less than five minutes of ice time in the game . Even with that small amount of ice time he still won four out of his six face-offs and had two shots on goal .
Jussi Jokinen earned the secondary assist on the game’s second goal and had over sixteen minutes of ice time . He only had one face-off draw , but he won it . He also ended the game with a +/- rating of +1 .
Mike Smith got the nod to start in goal . He faced thirty-six shots and only allowed one goal against . I am glad Smitty posted another win in Tampa . The win was only his second in a Tampa Bay uniform . I have heard some nasty rumours about what some people think of Smitty in Tampa . I hope he posts many more wins and changes their minds .

  1. Halpie left the game with a strained back muscle. Hope its not serious. He has been awesome since the move. Smitty had his new goalie mask and pads on and it seemed like the writers/fans were more excited about that than his incredible playing. Maybe its been so long since they have seen an amazing goalie, they don’t know one when they see one. On another amazing note, the defense seemed to be actually playing. Something Smitty had not had the fortune of seeing until now. For Smitty’s sake, I hope they keep it up.

  2. In the above article , I failed to mention that Smitty earned the first star of the game .
I was very excited when I went to the Tampa Bay Lightning official site where their recap story was ALL about Halpern , Jokinen and Smitty .
Thanks for the information on Halpern and Smitty DID look sharp in blue but I still miss him in green and gold .
I have to agree that I hope that their defensemen keep playing , at least for Smitty’s sake .
